TRANSFORMED
The Transformed program serves to acclimate single mothers that have arrived through the refugee resettlement process. After the initial federal assistance has expired, Amaanah works closely with our clients for a period of 10 months.
AWESOME ACADEMY
Awesome Academy is an in-school and after-school service that provides academic and social support for refugees in elementary and middle schools. We serve 400 students in partnership with Houston, Alief, and Austin Independent School Districts.
PINK AND BLUE
Pink and blue is an annual day of festivity for boys and girls in the Awesome Academy. Students are picked up and transported to an indoor play area where they play with their peers, receive wrapped presents and enjoy a fun-filled day with our volunteers.
ROCK THE BLOCK
Rock the Block is the largest volunteer event for refugee services in Houston. In partnership with Islamic Relief USA, over 200 volunteers package and deliver food door-to-door to more than 600 resettled refugee families around Houston. We look forward to having Rock the Block in Austin this year.
MEAT UP
Meat UP is our annual meat campaign for resettled refugees. We solicit donations from our supporters to help us distribute a significant portion of meat to families of resettled refugees. It's an event that brings happiness and joy to the hearts of its participants and recipients equally.

ABOUT AMAANAH’S SERVICES

We are working hard to revolutionize servicing refugees. We are consistently growing and evolving to meet the long-term needs of women and children that arrived through the refugee resettlement process.

Generally speaking, support for resettled refugees in their first 6 months after their arrival to the U.S. is provided by federal funds. However, after this period is over, refugees who often do not speak the language or are not familiar with the culture are left to fend for themselves and their families.

Our supporters are the ones who enable us to cater to the needs of the refugees after the federally funded resettlement period (i.e. 6 months) expires. Below is the breakdown of our revenue sources:

Integrity and transparency are incredibly important to our organization. As one of the largest privately funded refugee services organizations in Texas, we know that our life-changing programs could not happen without generous contributions.
Below is an overview of our expenditures:

  • Management
  • Development
  • Programs

Our programs are focused on two specific populations within the refugee community: children and women.

The Awesome Academy, which is our in-school and after-school service for refugee students has grown significantly. We improved the curriculum, student experience, and also added a social services component to assist students with meals, uniforms, and supplies. The program has made a significant impact on student academics and personal development.

We also developed Transformed, which is a long-term support program exclusively for single-mothers. Women-led households in crisis are assisted in areas such as housing, employment, transportation, language development, and social wellbeing.

…It is hard to fathom the experience of people who left their homes and memories behind unwillingly to a foreign land with a foreign language and culture. I’ve seen Amaanah work tirelessly to ensure that these people are supported, comforted, and given a chance to thrive in the land of opportunity. Much love and gratitude!

~A longtime volunteer and supporter

In addition to our day-to-day services, we have a set of annual events that allows for interacting with our clients as well as our donors. Pink and Blue is a party for Awesome Academy students. With food, gifts, and plenty of treats, our volunteers make this a memorable day for the children.  Rock the Block is one of our most anticipated events where hundreds of volunteers gather to distribute food and hygienic products to hundreds of resettled families.

We thank you for your unwavering support as we continue on our journey towards revolutionizing refugee services.
